UGC video ads for dropshipping: hook, demo, call to action
How a 24-second UGC-style video ad is built, and what to change first when it is not working.
UGC-style video, filmed like a customer made it on a phone, is the format most dropshipping ads use on Facebook and Instagram. The structure is simple, and most failed ads fail in the first three seconds.
The three parts
- Hook, 0 to 3 seconds. One line that names the problem or the result. Example: "Feed anywhere. No mess, no bottles to juggle."
- Demo, 3 to 16 seconds. Show the product doing the job, in real use, with as few cuts as possible.
- Call to action, 16 to 24 seconds. Say what to do next and where.
Format and placements
Film vertical, 9:16, and keep it under 30 seconds. That one file runs in Facebook Feed, Instagram Feed, and Reels. Add captions, because many people watch with the sound off.
Make three versions, not one
Keep the demo and change the hook. Three hooks on the same footage tell you far more than one polished video. Give each the same daily budget so the comparison is fair.
What to fix first
- Low click-through rate: the hook is not landing. Rewrite the first line.
- Clicks but no sales: the ad is fine; look at the product page and the price.
- Sales but no profit: check your landed cost and break-even before spending more.
Avoid claims that get ads rejected
Health promises, before-and-after bodies, and "guaranteed" results are common reasons ads are refused. Describe what the product does, not what it cures.
Drop2Launch writes the script, generates the UGC video ad, and posts it to Meta for you.
